Registration is open May 1- 12th for Concert Band and May 1- 30th for Beginner Band

Steps to register:

After May 1:

1. Register your family in Jackrabbit from the Parent Portal.

2. Go to the parent portal and select classes for your student. Select their band class and their summer camps.

3. Pay tuition once it is loaded to your account balance.

How do I register my beginner band student?

• Review the information packet and get questions answered

• Register for an instrument fair slot @ southernstarfinearts.org

• Attend an Instrument Fair or instrument fitting with your students so they can select an instrument with the directors. May 1st, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm or May 6th, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

• Registration opens Thursday, May 1, 2025 and closes May 30th, 2025

• Fill out a registration form at the provided link when it opens

• Pay the deposit payment of $300

• Private Lessons will be scheduled in Late July/Early August

Instrument Selection:

Concert Band instruments include:

Brass - Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba

Woodwind - Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Oboe, Bassoon

Percussion (Students play snare, tympani, mallets, and more)

Instrument Fairs at Nelson University in Burke Hall: 

Thursday, May 1st 1:00 - 4:00 pm and Tuesday, May 6th 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

If you do not have your instruments, they can be rented or purchased from local music stores.   Please register if you plan to attend. At these times, Band Directors will also be consulting with students and parents on instrument selection.  We recommend that beginning students acquire their instrument after meeting with the directors well before band camp in July.  

How do I register my returning Concert Band student?

• Review the information packet and get questions answered

• Registration opens Thursday, May 1, 2025, and closes May 12th, 2025, for returning students

• Fill out a registration form in the parent portal at the provided link when it opens at

southernstarfinearts.org

• Select the appropriate classes for your student (camps and band classes)

• Pay the deposit payment of $300.

1. Returning students, plan for your student to attend the required Band Camp in May

2. 2025-2026 Southern Star Band season will begin with May camp and Back to Band Camp on July 28 - August 1, and regular Thursday rehearsals on August 14!

3. Lessons will be scheduled in Late July or early August.
